We have 3 macs running OS X with Airport cards, a Windows box with a Linksys wireless card, a cable modem, and an Airport base station - and they all work together beautifully. I did it all by myself with a little help from linksys (*very* little help at all), a little help from Apple (fabulous help), and a little help from looking things up online.
