(no subject)

I started some disjointed Connexions comments, and may actually finish and post them at some point (*may* being the operant word), but right now I am entirely distracted, because -- the iBook arrived today! So I've been busy messing around with it, trying to learn the basics of OS X (I haven't really touched a Mac in four years or so), and playing DVDs and CDs on it, and making little happy noises.

I haven't yet begun on the *real* challenge, which is to get the Airport wireless base station, the cable modem, OS X, and Windows ME all talking civilly to one another. A patently idiotic task for me to take on, since I'm a complete ignoramus about these matters, but I've found some useful-looking guides, and am seized with my usual insane assurance that I can do anything, given competent instructions. (On the other hand, if anyone out there has actually done something like this and is willing to be on-call for troubleshooting, hand-holding, and nervous breakdowns, I'd be eternally grateful.)

New toy! Wheeee!

I recommend a visit to [livejournal.com profile] appleworld--they were very helpful with my networking questions. And congrats on the new toy!

OSX is great. Of course, I haven't ever owned anything other than a Mac, so I admit to being a bit biased ;-).

Hope you will do a con report of some kind, but I certainly understand the lure of the new Mac, oh yes I do.
