Aug. 24th, 2003 03:12 pmOK, giving up on the Vividcon report. For me, trying to write con reports is a lot like trying to describe dreams--the memories are all fragmentary and jumbled and suffused with intense emotion that I have a hard time putting into words. Also, there's the fact that I can never intelligently respond to vids until I've seen them at least three or four times, preferably up-close and in a quiet environment and with a lyrics sheet at hand.
So I'll just say that the only bad part of the con was that
aerye was unable to make it after all. I'd really looked forward to seeing her again, and missed her terribly all weekend. Everything else was pretty much wonderful, as others have recounted at length.
In any event, ever since returning I've been distracted and preoccupied with RL stuff. ( Very boring family-related blargh... )
In more upbeat news, Tanya the Highly Competent Best-Buy Repairperson was able to fix my air conditioner yesterday (it had mysteriously stopped working at the height of last week's heat wave), and that's a blessing, because it's 95 degrees today.
I will refrain from wailing at length here about how this is my last day of vacation, and how I accomplished almost nothing of what I'd planned to during this time, and how little I want to go back to work tomorrow. There's plenty I could still do today, but I feel scattered and unable to focus, and in any event I have to go back to the hospital in a couple of hours and check in on things. I don't really feel like my being there is providing any substantial help, but rallying around by making an appearance and sitting at bedside seems to be what I'm supposed to do, so I go with the program.
This is a tedious and disjointed entry, yarrgh. I will now go poke at e-mail and Friends list to see if anyone's saying anything amusing.
