So did I say last night that I was going to shut down and do dishes and stuff? Oh, I am such a liar. I finally crawled into bed in the small hours, and was up again at five in front of the computer, and the dishes still sit in the sink.

I also looked up and reread [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett's Life Cycle of Vid and Vidder, and yes, Lum rocks. A few items I'd add:

--Uh ... how the hell did it get to be midnight? And ... did I eat dinner? I don't remember eating dinner... Of course, it's not like there's any food in the house anyway.

--Credits?? This clip that I must have for this one line has fucking credits all over it?? How could I not have noticed that? How could they have done that to me? Do I look like I give a damn about who the producer was?

--Is there some reason why all the key scenes in this goddamned episode are filmed in the dark??

--Is there any way they could possibly have shown us this one key event, instead of having the guys talk about it?

--I'm sure that this scene ran at least five seconds longer in the version of the episode that I remember seeing. And also, it was better lit. And didn't have that guy walking through right in the middle.

--Man, this feels like the old days, when I used to wake up at three in the morning with the voices going in my head, and flick on the computer and start typing madly. I'd forgotten how good this feels.

--Oh, god, I'm going to show this to my buddies, and they'll all be very kind to me, and then they'll all get together on AIM, and they'll laugh, and laugghhh...

--Could I possibly get away with calling in sick to work today?

Hehehehe. There are many times I've shouted at the computer "Fuck you, Robert C. Cooper! Get your name off my screen!" I hate credits. And sci-fi channel bugs. Especially those that rotate and blink during key moments. Especially when I try to pretend that they're not noticeable and I get a note back from the beta that says "perhaps you can choose a different clip that doesn't have the huge honking TV-14 for mature audiences" thing popping up in the corner.

Words cannot express how grateful I am that I have DVD source for this particular thing. And also how impatient I am for them to get off their duffs and release the season 3/4 DVDs already!

And yes, networks that put animated crap all over the southeast quadrant of the screen must die, die, die.

You may be obsesso-girl (not that it's a bad thing *g*), but you're not boring. I don't vid, and your descriptions are still entertaining.

Did you notice they're adding sound effects to those annoying things? Especially on FX. I'll be watching Buffy while drinking my morning coffee and suddenly there'll be the sound of knives being sharpened (Nip/Tuck) or a slot machine (Lucky). So now they not only block a portion of the picture but they mess up the dialog!

(Oh, and hey--I have something to send you, but I've managed to lose your mailing address--and of course this may not be the best time since you're probably frenziedly packing to move, but maybe if you could e-mail me your *new* address, and when it will come into effect, I'll ship it to you as a housewarming present or somesuch. No biggie, just a fun thing. *g*)

I also have something to send you...and sad news. The local network has stopped showing Wild, Wild West for the time being but I have the e-mail address of the program director and we have been having a lovely chat about the situation and he is amenable to puttng it back on the air provided the ratings for Green Acres are low.

Please send address.

*laughing quietly* You are coming along nicely, aren't you?

re: network bugs and credits. Virtual Dub has a filter that will blur them out.

Yeah, why can't they shoot the show the way WE need?

Oh, and this morning before I left the house, I actually got the bag of tapes into my car. Go me! Want me to drop them off tonight?

I read your other post about the gigantic time-suck that is vidding, and started chuckling then. I think that fanfic was my gateway drug to vidding.

Just wait till you figure out how to image pan and crop and get rid of bugs and some titles, and yes, Virginia, there *is* a way to maintain the aspect of that clip!

I'm so glad you've been sucked into the gaping black hole of discovered vidding! I can't wait to see what you're doing.

As Lum pointed out, cropping will save you a world of pain with this one.

--Is there some reason why all the key scenes in this goddamned episode are filmed in the dark??

Heh. Heh heh heh. XF and Buffy vidders everywhere share your pain, I assure you.

Yes. Yes, exactly.

You're really getting the hang of this, I can tell. *g*

Oh, yes, and I've done it. *g* You are cracking me up! I still feel this way, sometimes. Credits suck. So do promos, animated icons, and mysteriously changing aspect ratios.

Put me on that buddy list, btw. I'm dying to see the finished product.

Isn't she? It's wonderful to see the same enthusiasm I feel overtake one of my dear friends.

And of course, there's a certain schadenfreude associated with seeing Kat display the same aggravation, too. It's not that I wish you pain, honey! But this is a vidder bonding experience!

Ever available for your squees, I remain
