Whoa. Keith Olbermann, on MSNBC, just stepped out of reporter mode and (for what he said was one of the first times in his career) delivered a scathing, comprehensive, magisterically ass-kicking editorial commentary on the mismanagement of the disaster and the gross incompetence of Bush&Co. It was a thing of *beauty*. Must find a transcript somewhere!

ETA: Ah hah! It's up here. Though the transcript doesn't totally capture the tone of barely-contained contempt and anger with which it was delivered. *g*

Thank you so much! I'll definitely pass it on. :-D

No kidding -- I just sat there with my jaw dropped. I don't remember *ever* hearing a news anchor go off like that. He was *blistering.*

And people wonder why I love him. He consistantly has the *smartest* nightly newscast on television.

MSNBC usually won't have a transcript up until at least 24 hours after a show airs. However, when Keith does commentary it very often turns up on his blog at countdown.msnbc.com

Turns out I have it cached in my cable box :) Will transcribe & post it here as soon as I find it. Do you remember about what time it was?

[identity profile] katallison.livejournal.com 2005-09-06 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think around 7:45 our time, which would be 5:45 on the west coast. Thanks, Melina!

Thank God -- I was not cut out to be a transcriber :)

Kat - to keep you angry:

I don't have words strong enough to convey what I feel about Barbara Bush right at this moment.

These people are beyond unbelievable. At least, I wish to hell they were unbelievable; there are too bloody many of them about to be hallucinations, worse luck.

Yeah, Louisiana is a city, it's largely underwater (ya think?), and Katrina was really a big favour to all those useless disadvantaged types. Right.

So, if by some blessed chance the entire Shrub family gets struck by lightning simultaneously, who wants first crack at crafting the tasteless remark....?

I just posted a really obscene reaction, and then deleted it because I had second thoughts about coming into Kat's LJ and screaming obscenities at the top of my lungs.

But --um. Yeah. BASTARDS.

I don't seem to be able to express how outraged and sickened I am without obscenity.

Oh, my god, this guy rocked. Totally.

I posted a comment earlier. I take it back, in the manner of biting off comments half said.

(Not everything that gets beyond my teeth actually needed to have been said in the first place.)

And I decided I didn't want to add more fighting to that already going on. I apologize for not thinking it through before I posted.

I have adored Keith Olbermann for years, but now my love for his brain and his willingness to tell it like it is has reached new heights. Bless him for saying what others won't.

Thanks for the vid link! The transcript is awesome, but his delivery makes all the difference.

I love that man.
