Oct. 11th, 2006 06:12 pmSo, right after I posted my last entry, which hinted coyly at all sorts of more-frequent-updating behavioral improvement, I came down with the god-damned respiratory crud from HECK, and spent a week feeling like I had a big limp phlegmy sponge instead of a brain. And as soon as I started feeling human again, I realized that holy CRAP I had an entire week's backlog of work to catch up on. And so here I sit, once again in my non-updating, LJ-neglecting, friends'-goodwill-abusing state of shame.
But, um. Anyway. Hi!
Stuff that is just Not On: Leaving work today, I stepped out of my building and squarely into an honest-to-god face-scouring BLIZZARD, featuring (a) great gouts of snow, (b) enormous gusty blasts of wind, and (c) below-freezing windchills. Oh, Minnesota, you wacky, wonderful place. (*sigh*) Fortunately, it only lasted about five minutes, and the snow melted away instantly, but we're going down to 25 or thereabouts tonight, and so adieu to my neighbor's gorgeous gaudy dahlias, and the basil plant in the backyard, and the last lingering (it was 80 degrees on Saturday! My hand to god!) remnants of summer.
Stuff that is Of The Good: I was pondering meatloaf or some such for dinner, but when I got to the store I found the most lovely six-pound roasting hen, and so I took it home and rubbed it all over with garlic butter and bunged it in the oven and it is now just beginning to smell *wonderful*. I'm going to add to the oven a pretty little squash I got at the co-op the other day, and then I'm going to cook some kasha to go alongside, and having the oven on is actually getting the house warm, although I can tell that this is going to be the night I'll have to cave and actually turn the heat on. (*reprise sigh*)
There are approximately 845973 LJ entries backed up in my head, all of them (I assure you) *immensely* deep and thought-provoking, and I may actually get one or two of them typed up this week. But now I must go wash dishes before Mr. P. arrives for dinner. (Upside: immersing hands in hot dishwater actually gets them WARM.)
