In extremely minor and inconsequential news of annoyingness -- tonight, while eating an innocuous sandwich, a big honkin' chunk of my lower right molar came off, leaving a jaggedy rough-edged crater of goddamn it I have to go see a dentist DAMN DAMN DAMN.

Or, encroaching age sucks. Yeah.

Oy, baby. Last week half of an upper molar fell out, because fillings apparently only last a finite number of years, and mine are dropping like flies. So I totally share your feelings, literal and emotional.

I MEAN. GAH. Like, fifteen years ago when I was in grad school and monumentally broke, a different molar (not the current disintegrating one) rejected its big amalgam filling and cracked and needed a root canal and a crown, the cost of which basically took ALL the money I'd inherited from my mother, but it was OK if it meant I could actually chew on both sides of my mouth for the first time in YEARS, and so I had it done. Except. Ten years later, the crown totally CRAPPED OUT ON ME AND THE TOOTH STARTED UP AGAIN WITH THE PAIN AND THE MISERY AND seriously, Shay, why the hell do we have these lousy crappy dysfunctional arrays of inadequate dentition ANYWAY??

In other words -- gahhhhhhhhh.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself because my glasses broke today. Damn inconvenient body-maintenance tasks anyway!

I am in vast sympathy with your dental trauma. I'm in the process of getting an implant for a tooth that had a root canal twice, an apicoectomy once, then got yanked, then *abscessed* after being yanked, then had to have a bit of remaining tooth removed. The final bit, the crown, is being put on the week before VVC.

And in the middle of all this, my dentist decided I needed a crown for ANOTHER tooth, and a filling for yet another. So that's how I spent my morning today.

*HUG* Teeth suck. And I have no doubt I will have yet another "omg all my teeth fell out!" nightmare tonight...

Poor baby! That totally sucks, is utterly crappy and horrible - shakes fist at malicious tooth gods. I just went through a cracked tooth, major pain, new expensive crown -- icky icky and more icky so I have nothing but sympathy for your dental pain. I've had so much dental work in the last month that I had to have my chiropractor adjust my jaw! I really have to wonder at our weak teeth issues. After all, our ancestors checked on huge hunks of prehistoric meat which was poorly cooked, if at all. You'd think we would have evolved a better tooth by now.

My family legacy is lousy eyesight and bad teeth, so you have my deepest sympathies. And when a tooth breaks on something soft, it really does feel like it's adding insult to injury, doesn't it?

With no dental insurance, trips to the dentist are a double disaster. Thank goodness I have a dentist that allows payments. I've had to get several crowns, root canals, and now I need a bridge; of course, the two anchor teeth are both already crowns that will have to be replaced for the bridge. *heavy sigh*

Do hope that your dentist is able to repair the molar. I was surprised when mine was able to fix a nasty broken tooth without extraction or crowning. I'd thought the damage too great but the repair has held up nicely and that's been five or more years now.

Teeth just suck. Unless you are incredibly lucky with the good genes you just don't get decent use out of them compared to the current average lifespan, and they'll simply crap out on you. I really wish humans got teeth changes every twenty years or so instead of just once as a kid. I mean, yes, teething may hurt a bit, but not more than the mess of cavities, infected roots and inflamed gums that average adult human teeth end up with. *hugs*

ow, fuck.

That's pretty much the opposite of fun.

Oh geez. I managed to do that with a bagel (*chew, chew* Hey, bagels aren't supposed to be...crunchy). I feel your pain. Fingers crossed it'll be something they can easily take care of versus making the dentist chair your second home.
