Officially a Geezer Now

AH HAH!! It finally happened, the event I'd sort of been waiting for --

::drum roll::

I got AARP'd!!

(For you non-US readers, or those too young to have encountered this phenomenon, the grand official Rite of You-Are-Now-An-Old-Fart in this country is receiving a solicitation for membership in the American Association of Retired People, which is sent out to everyone on or around their 50th birthday.)

The "Retired" part of the whole thing makes me laugh like a loon, needless to say, since retirement ain't likely to ever be in the picture for me. And I have very mixed feelings about AARP in general -- the bennies can be nice (good travel discounts, etc.), but I am in fairly sharp disagreement with a number of their policy stances.

Ah, hell, I guess one can protest those more effectively from within, eh?

AARP'd. Ohmigod. I'm going to go out and buy some Geritol and Supp-hose now, methinks...
