Finally finished and handed in my big wordy overwritten agglomeration of paper applying for a promotional job within my dept.--vita, cover letter, personal statement. Oh, and transcript. The whole thing came to ... um, 14 pages, I guess. (I pity the folks on the committee, is all I can say.) And as always, writing up all this crap was an incredible struggle; god, I hate self-pimping.
So now I'm sitting here with a feeling that I haven't had in few years and yet is deeply familiar -- the boulder-off-the-shoulders, ohmygod I finally finished that goddamned paper and printed it out and handed it in to my prof and I'm free free FREE! feeling. It's all the more vivid because this is the Friday before Spring Break week, and all in all I am irresistably overcome with the conviction that I should get up, shut down the computer, head out, and have about seventeen beers.
Unfortunately, it's only 1:00 p.m. and I have a committee meeting to go to. Drat. (But I may sneak out early...)
