Happy, busy, busy, happy
Oct. 24th, 2003 08:10 amHappy for the most part, at least, though also immensely busy, since I'm now in effect doing two full-time jobs (having taken on a whole additional role at work when a colleague left on short notice). This will ease in time--I've been authorized to hand off the bulk of my advisees to others (which is in some cases sad, but OTOH I have a little list of those who will not be missed *g*). The upside is that the new job will allow me to ease in some organizational changes I've long wanted to see made; and I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying the sense of having more responsibility/authority. The POWAH! Muuwa-hahaha! The other cool part is that my boss, bless him, managed to finesse an emolument out of the budget, in recognition of my increased workload, which was damn nice of him, considering how tight money is.
The downside, of course, is that my time for fun stuff, working on stories and vids, is much more squeezed. But like a lot of other disorganized procrastinatory people, there's a strange equation that kicks in: the busier I am and the less time I have, the more I actually accomplish across the board, because I cease frittering. I may be updating here a bit less frequently in the near future (not that my updates could ever be described as "frequent"), but I'm still trying to fit in time to at least keep up with others' entries. Y'all are my sanity check, and my reminder that a world exists beyond committee meetings and spreadsheets.
