So, much to my surprise, I actually got my flashfiction story done and posted here, before the deadline.

And, see, what I really would like right now is to have about six weeks off, the way I've had the last several summers and won't this year, because the last few flashfictions I've done have essentially been little chunks and pieces of a big honkin' long thing that's started coming together in my head, the thing I've provisionally titled "Armando Vecchio," the one where Vecchio comes back wrong, and the problem is this is going to be a killer to try to write. Because really (as I said to somebody not long ago), what it needs to be is an honest-to-god horror story -- possession, doppelgangers, whole nine yards. And I have a lot of respect for the difficulty of the horror genre, and it's something I don't have much of any experience with. So, anyway--arrrgh. But I really, really, really want to do it.

And now I have to run off to lunch with my stepmother, drat.

Oooooh.

You do realize I'm going to hound you for this, don't you? It's my duty as a minion.

Deb, sweetie, you are authorized to beat me soundly about the head for this. I'm not sure it'll actually produce outcome, but at least it'll learn me for taking on novel-length stuff. *sigh*

Yeah, 'cause nobody does fucked-up like you do ... and I mean that in a really really good way.

and we really really want you to do it to. perhaps a booster chat during Vividcon? I found our chat last year about Fraser very helpful for the DS vid and the Bascon panel murielperun and I did about him.

I would *love* to have some time to talk with you at VividCon, and thanks so much! I love to babble about the characters, and I'd love to hear your own thoughts on Vecchio and how this situation might work out.

You are the only person in the world who could write this. You are the only person in the world who could write a long, Vecchio-centered story and make me slobber with excitement over the idea of reading it. Take as long as you need--The End of the Road was worth the wait!--but you *must* write this!

Yeah--trying to ignore it has not made it back off an inch. Ulp. (And as always, thank you so much for the generous encouragement and kind words!)

god, Kat. The way your write Vecchio is just perfection and it kills me and I will try to formulate coherent feedback to your flashfic but for now, just trust me that this rocked my world.

And:

the one where Vecchio comes back wrong

God! I want this! Really very badly. *goes to try to get Kat Allison a slash-writing scholarship*

*g* Well, there are definitely people who deserve that scholarship more than I (like, the people who are actually writing *slash* instead of deeply-repressed USTish gen, heh). But thank you so much! (And I have feedback that I'm trying to finish and send you about your gorgeous flashfiction story, and also the Ray/Ray you did for ds_undercover, which knocked my socks off!)

Armando Vecchio

I misread this as "Amanda Vecchio" and I think my brain exploded. I'm pretty sure that would have to be a comedy, though. :->

OK, that would be the one where Vecchio comes back *really* wrong. And somebody truly must write it. HOOT!

(And may I just say how very, very much I adore your icon?)

What blows me away (again) is the voice. I think I said the same thing about your Welsh. And *wow* to the prospect of the whole fic, and *shudder* to the end of this one.

Third comment about this story (sorry about that), but I forgot to say it, even though I did think it. The POV abso-fucking-lutely works. Exactly like you described. I noticed it when I suddenly, half-way through the story went 'hey! this is in second person!'. It's a rare story where the beginning of something second person is so engaging that you just don't even notice it. Even the stories that are incredibly engaging, you are aware of it. Not here, even though I knew it was coming. Very cool. :)

Oh, yay yay and hurrah! I'm *so* glad to hear that the POV works for you--I really was a bit nervous about it, but no one's yelled at me yet, so ... *g*

And thanks again, so much, for your kind and supportive words! I'm really grateful, Halimede.

The POV works gorgeously, Kat. I just finished reading it and am about to go and reread it. I knew you'd done it in 2nd and were nervous, and it *still* took me forever to notice. Must go reread and then pimp to anyone who stands still long enough on AIM and ICQ.... This is impressively unsettling, though, and I mean that in all the good ways of 'you meant to creep me out, huh? It *worked*!'

Hey, if there's anything I can do to help the story take over your brain you do what you want to with the story, just let me know. You know I think your writing is terrific, and the more of a challenge you say this is to you, the more I encourage you to go for it, 'cause it sounds like you're actually pretty thrilled!
