Partly because je suis un lemming, and partly because I've enjoyed responding to other people's, and partly because my memory sucks and I'd love to have blurry areas filled in, and partly because I need some distraction from uber-stressful RL stuff:

Part of being on Livejournal.com is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

And you know what, I'd actually forgotten the E-Mail of Infamy that you mentioned in response to me on your LJ! *g* But now that you've reminded me, I recall being all vicariously "ooh ouch ouch ouch" on your behalf and then being impressed with how you handled the whole thing.

Also, I remember the fisting story. *g* I don't remember the title precisely, but I do remember the story, oh yes.

Blame Highlander for me, darlin'. In fact, I recall the first time we actually met face-to-face. Snoozie and I picked you up at the McDonald's in Andersonville, as I recall. I think I remember telling you to look for someone who looked like a Sumo wrestler because I had long hair then and wore it in a topknot. Where did we end up going that day? I think I remember it was hot and sunny, and if I'm not mistaken there was some sort of festival going on in Andersonville that day.

Oh, I remember that day--yeah, it was the Andersonville Whatchamacallit Fair, and I walked up to the McDonalds on Balmoral, all atremble at the thought of meeting you. We'd had quite a bit of correspondence on the Lance-list before that, and you and SVE were like these iconic Fannish Goddess figures to me. (You *are* still goddesses, of course, but in a less-iconic, more-earthy kind of way. *g*)

I don't actually know how we met, oddly enough. I have the sense that when I came to my first Escapade (2002) and met you in person, I already knew who you were; I had a vague sense of you being some kind of BNF from fandoms I hadn't been in (XF, HL)...but I have no idea how I came to know your name, or how we first interacted. When I got home, I found your blog at mrks.org, and that was pretty much that. :-)

You know, I have a similar story, though earlier than 2002. I think I knew *of* Kat, and then I met her, at one Escapade or another... I don't really remember! It's kinda fannish osmosis - just a gradual merging until you go "haven't I always known you?"

That would be a very excellent thing, yes. *g* And it's not like it's a hardship or anything! (Well, apart from the getting hold of season 3/4 tapes, which can be a bit of a pain, although they're promising DVDs out in Sept.)

And you're one of the people whom I've been remiss in reading and friending back; I finally just went over to your LJ and greatly enjoyed what seem to me (Stargate ignoramus) to be very intelligent comments about that show.

You sent me the most goddamned amazing LOC on Revenant -- I was *blown away*, and sort of incoherent with gratitude, and I think we corresponded for a while before we finally met, which was (I'm pretty sure) Connexions '98, where I met a whole lot of people for the first time. In fact, we roomed together, and that was the famous occasion where I realized at the last minute that Daylight Savings had gone into effect the morning of the art auction, and managed to tear back to the room and wake you up *just* in time to get there. Good times. *g*

Good lord, do you know I can't remember? I can't recall if it was the old TXF days (probably you'd have been introduced to me by [livejournal.com profile] thete1), or a mailing list. Probably the list, no? You were already well-established as a DS writer before I came along, but I knew who you were by then, so it must've been before DS.

In person? My first Escapade, right? 2002? Or did we meet before that in Minneapolis? Was that before or after Escapade?

I want to answer this but *my* memory sucks. But I have blurry memories of your early, wonderful e-mails, and your first (and only?) Millenium story. You were like a lovely Minnesota breeze blowing my way. You, my sweet, are one of the easiest for me to remember; I sent you a long, agonizingly-wrought-with-care mash note about In a Dark Time, and you sent me back the most marvelous letter, and we entered into a long long correspondence, while you were working at the bookstore; and then we met (two very shy self-conscious people) at Connexions in '98. And ever since then it's been just like -- that. ::Kat makes drunken hierophantic gesture intended to signify that::

And I will wait to call until you are recovered from hellish dental infections and Vicodin-haze -- I pet you and send you a comforting cooling Minnesota breeze.
