Y'know, one of the worst things about being a caregiver and watching the long, slow decline of people you love is having that process logged in your brain, and finding yourself accessing it every time you have a twinge, a memory lapse, or some other moment when you come face-to-face with the inevitable incursions of age. I find myself thinking that "live fast, die young" is not as silly as I once thought, though dying young is somewhat beyond me now. Actually, I think living fast is, too. *g*
I'm sorry your visit with your dad was not a happy one. I've come to recognize that it's all in the timing. You get a few good minutes every once in a while.
