Randomness with minimal fannish content

This morning, for some reason, I found myself thinking about the dS episode Odds, and in particular how interesting this would have been as a Vecchio ep. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love RayK in it, but *damn.* Just how freaked would Vecchio be by the sudden appearance of, and Fraser's apparent interest in, a beautiful dark-haired smooth-voiced bad bad woman? It almost makes me wonder if Odds were written (as some episodes were, e.g. Asylum), or at least sketched out, before the casting switch, as a way of giving some emotional follow-through to Victoria. (RayK's reaction also makes me wonder anew just how much he knew of that particular disaster...)

I will at some point write something about Escapade, but upon my return I was immediately pitched into massive brouhaha at work; in fact, a colleague phoned me the night I got back to brief me before I came into the office. Fortunately (or un-, depending on one's angle) this particular imbroglio I can do nothing whatsoever about, and so I am practicing the folding of the hands and the leaning back and deep breathing.

Eight above zero this morning, but it's supposed to warm markedly, and I think this might be the last day for the big down coat. The change in the height and intensity of the sun, and the length of the days, is really noticeable, and I begin to cherish a wan hope that spring might actually come, one of these months.

I wouldn't be surprised. It certainly has that kind of flavor; it could be converted for either actor.

It's bright here but the wind is stiff; I don't know whether to believe the weatherman about the next week or not.

Given your recent levels of stress and the amount of sleep you probably didn't get at the con, I'd say this is fortunate. It removes not only the need to figure out what to do and then do it (quickfastNOW), but also the likelihood of feeling stressed and guilty that you aren't doing it all fast enough, or well enough. Make with the zen, and hang out on the edges with a broom to tidy up afterward. Good luck! (And stay warm. It occurred to me this morning that I haven't actually left the house since I got home at midnight Monday/Tuesday . . . )

I spend enough time wondering what Vecchio would have done in Bounty Hunter; that's a hard ep to wrap my brain around. The psychology seems so disjointed, not so much out-of-character as lacking context. I saw it before I saw Victoria's Secret; watching it again (and again and again) afterward didn't make it make more sense, but left me with this niggling feeling that part of what's bothering me has *something* to do with Fraser's response to certain kinds of women, and that it would come clear if I just had more data...

Ooh, yeah, and how much Fraser knows about how much RayK knows. "What makes you think I trust her?" Fraser says.

(A while I go I was mumbling about this Smallville challenge where people re-wrote/adapted eps of Lois & Clark with the cast of Smallville, and how we could do something similar, like a Ray-swapping challenge or something.)
