cesperanza once posted something to the effect that merryish had critiqued her stories by pointing out that "Your characters are smarter, wittier, and more likely to get into heaven than the real things." For whatever reason, that phrase wandered into my brain when I was trying to think of what to say to sherrold on the occasion of her birthday. Except that Sandy *is* the real thing, and as much as she'd snort at the "heaven" bit, honestly, who'd want anything to do with any heaven where she wasn't an honored guest?

Happy birthday, Sandy! Your friendship has been one of the most treasured gifts fandom's brought me, and I hope the year brings you as much joy as you give to all your friends.
