Home. *Exhausted.* It was in the 60s when I flew out of L.A. this morning; it is forecast to be the one of the coldest nights of the winter here in Minneapolis, maybe fifteen below. I had 217 e-mails to go through (not counting the work account), and my LJ friends list was at skip=480. I am sleep-deprived; I have no food in the house; my cat is furious with me.

Also, about three hours ago I finished the last cigarette from the pack I bought in Oxnard, and since I am now officially launching the no-more-smoking thing, I keep gently setting aside the habitual impulse of "Hey! Let's just run down to the gas station and get some cigs!" (The weather actually helps; it's too damn cold to just run down to the gas station.) I'm a little twitchy, but nothing worse than that so far.

Con report (of sorts) coming soon, but for now I'm just going to collapse into bed.

Welcome home!

Welcome home!

My cat was pissed at me, too, but I spent a while enticing her with the world's cheapest cat toy (a string tied to a chopstick) and she's happier now. Also, cleaning the litterbox seems to have served as a peace offering.

Good luck quitting smoking. My dear friend [livejournal.com profile] auteurcakes is kicking a ten-year pack-a-day habit (also in your fair, if freezing, city, actually) and I think she's found the nicotine patch really useful. I like cigarettes but by some miracle have never become addicted to them (I tend to smoke maybe one a week), so I am unendingly impressed with people who try to break the habit.

I had every intention of buying you a glass of good scotch after the Saturday night vid show, and then I forgot. Le sigh. Next year, perhaps. It's probably just as well; I went kind of tharn by late Saturday evening. A lot of stimulation, combined with precious little sleep. There ought to be a name for that kind of con-induced temporary insanity...

Hey Kat!! Just wanted to offer encouragement on the not smoking front. I was smoking a pack and a half to two packs a day when I quit and that was almost six years ago. The patched helped me a lot (that and lots of gum) but it's different for each person.

Glad you had a good time at Escapades. I'm sure your cat will forgive you in time. :-)

I returned home to record lows. Record. Lows. For Edmonton. Minus thirty-six while I was gone. I think I'm going to be wearing a few extra layers for a while, while I adjust.

It was fantastic to meet you, incidentally. I'll look forward to reading anything you have to say about the con!

Glad you're home safe and sound, if tired and cat-irked. And I can't think of anything supportive to say on the subject of you quitting smoking that wouldn't also sound patronizing, so I won't go there. But, um, yay. (:

Looking forward to your con report (and just generally catching up) when you have a moment. Check in when you feel up to it.
