Sep. 27th, 2004 07:13 amThere are few greater pleasures than being in a fandom for a while, feeling like you've read all the good stuff there is to read in said fandom -- and then, out of nowhere, discovering some *marvelous* fiction by someone heretofore utterly unknown to you.
I get this pleasure more often than some, being as how I am an ignoramus who basically lives under a rock, so it's no real surprise I missed out on
thehoyden's stuff until I managed to stumble across Academic Punk. But then when I went back to her webpage to read her other stories (excellent stuff), I noticed that she shared digs with someone who was, as noted above, heretofore utterly unknown to me. "Hmm," thought I, "Rhi Marzano, don't have a clue, but let's check it out."
And my god. Rhi Marzano has got absolutely one of the best Kowalski voices going that I have ever encountered anywhere. *Aces.* I started with "Beguiled," which is one of those rare makes-you-love-kidfic stories, but the hockey-lovers in the crowd must also read "Deke," because, hockey! Guys acting like guys! Sex! Hilarity! (Which, except for the hockey, is true of all her stories.)
She and The Hoyden share webspace here. Go, read, wallow.
