katallison: (bad-ass)

I have a metric ton of stuff to do around here, but on this fine morning, with a whole day ahead of me to be used productively, what I'm really wanting to do is flump down in front of the TV and rewatch the whole Steelgrave arc of Wiseguy. And why? Because at 3 a.m. my brain suddenly began rabbiting on at me about an AU in which you move Ray Kowalski back in time about ten years, put him in Vinnie's shoes in the OCB, and send him off to get close to Sonny (if you know what I mean, and I think you do).

This is, I might say, one of those particularly pointless and vexing AU-crossover itches which is fueled, not by any neat meshing with original canon, not by any particularly rich and nuanced writing possibilities it offers, but rather by pure simmering hormones-on-overdrive.

Bad, bad brain. Sheeeesh.

Let's hear it for hormones on overdrive. :)

::waving arms:: Hey, I got angst to crank out! I got souls to put through inner torment and crises of conscience and bouts of existential despair! I ain't got TIME for lousy razzlefrazzle hormones, dammit!!

Your hormones just need firm guidance. Thass all.

I think that existential despair and hormones can go hand in hand. At least, that's my experience.

*nods*

I have that one. I want to write a Ray Vecchio/Methos story....

Wheee! That one would be, like, the Epic Battle of the Snark. (Or maybe the Battle of the Noses *g*).

I do love crossovers; it's a shame they're such a pain in the ass to do *well.*

Oh, hell... it's all about how Methos moves to Chicago to adopt a new identity, and then he runs into Ray Vecchio at some do, and does a thing like he does for Alexa in "Timeless" (my theory is that Methos is actually incredibly susceptible, especially to people who snark at him...) and Ray is being all reluctant and good-Catholic-boy-ish (that is, it would be fine if all this guy wanted was a quick fuck and then they never see each other again: but he's hanging around and making nice with the whole Vecchio clan and he wants a relationship and he acts like there's nothing wrong with that and he's really good company and this is not the kind of thing a guy can talk through with Fraser or his sister or godforbid a priest, though maybe I could borrow your wolf, Benny?) anyway, Fraser is not in the least jealous, absolutely not, he's just suspicious because this guy seems like he has something to hide, and there isn't anything in his past that can actually be confirmed - he was born in a hospital that burned down, he went to school somewhere that blew up, and so on and so forth: and when Fraser actually lays all this out for Vecchio, Methos overhears, and gets out of Chicago. Leaving Vecchio kind of pissed off with Fraser because he was really just beginning to think that maybe it would be okay to consider thinking about having a relationship with this guy, and now he's gone, and I want you to find him for me, Benny, and don't tell me you can't. So they track him back to Seacouver where it turns out he's moved into the loft over a dojo with a friend. Confrontation. Fireworks.

I'll never write it, of course.

There was a brief time when I was contemplating an AtS/dS crossover set before Wesley joined the show, when he was all rogue demon hunting, and he ended up in Chicago, and there he me Fraser and Ray and they had of the wacky wacky adventures.

except then I realized that I have very little actual dS knowledge and that's no way to write a crossover. I do, at least, have the Methos eps on tape so I can fudge that.

random!

Well, hey, ::donning pimp attire:: I can always feed you the dS knowledge, babe. Or, y'know, lend you tapes. Be delighted to. *g* And really, I would adore to see Fraser and Wesley doing the polite snark at each other, and Ray getting fed up and cracking their skulls together.

*snerk* That's really all it was. Fraser and Wesley snarking at each other in tones of great civility and Ray just beating his head against the desk, 'cause *man*, like Fraser isn't freak enough for his life, suddenly he's saddled with some British *nut* who thinks a motorcycle and big freaking axe is gonna keep him from getting is pansy ass killed.

Gunn would really like Ray.

...this bears thought.

Oh my lord. This bears more than thought, this bears *action*. No kidding, my hand to god, I would pay you actual American cash dollars to write this story.

Gunn would really like Ray.

And Ray, oh yes, would really like Gunn. Ray who (to my eye) has an actual canonical documented Thing for black guys. Yes.

Would begging help? Really pathetic whimpering?

*g* It'd work, though, wouldn't it? I mean, Sonny the original alpha male, with all that edgy paranoia and dangerousness; and Ray, the original bottom-boy behind that tough-guy facade; and both of them with the big achey issues of trust, and the hair-trigger tempers and the propensity to violence and the getting up in each other's faces, and ...

The hell of it is, I don't really want the *story* part so much, I just wanna groove on the visuals. Heh. Dammit.

Oh, dammit. Now my brain is full of visuals. Not that it's not a lovely way to spend an afternoon but it just doesn't jive with a Weapons System Trainer manual, y'know? *g*
