Home again.

The heat, dear gibbering Christ, the HEAT. It is 88 in my house, and no cooler outdoors, and this at 9 p.m. ::checking:: Dewpoint 75, heat index 96. At 9 p.m. Jeeeeeee-zus.

But I am home, back from VividCon, which was fabulous beyond my current powers of language to express. I am at skip=520 on LJ, with god only knows how many e-mails in the inbox. I am quivering with exhaustion, swilling beer, sweating like an ice cube in hell.

I did not do the post-VividCon road trip after all, because did I mention the HEAT? And me in the Car Of No Air-Conditioning. Plus, did I really think that after four days of con I was going to be in any shape for a freakin' road trip? As in, what was I smoking?

For those in the reading audience who are friends of Zen&nancy--news! Nancy had her baby this morning at 8:23, name is Caitlin (? not sure of spelling) Quinn, 6 lb. 6 oz., and according to Zen she came out of the womb with her eyes open. I don't know if this is common or rare (paging shell?) but it freaked Zen. *g* Both nancy and baby are doing fine, as far as I know.

Did I mention VividCon was fabulous beyond the powers of speech? Why yes I think I did, but I will attempt a con report tomorrow, perhaps, when some sleep has been achieved. If any sleep is to be had, in the fucking HEAT.

I am filled with post-con bliss, like a glass which is so full that one more drop would cause it to spill over. Plus, I am full of beer. And so, so, very very hot. More later.

And did I not offer you sunscreen?? Why yes I DID, I think. (Although the ghastliness of driving for six hours in the HEAT with a heavy greasy sticky coating of sunscreen on one's skin is a particularly awful sort of horror. Not to mention sticky.)

Wishing you sleep and coolness,

Kat
(and we will discuss the de-nicotine'ing. Soon.)

Welcome back! I'm glad you had such a great time, sweetie--I missed you!

And, well, it was 99 yesterday and 97 today, so I sympathize with your weather woes, although of course no one 'round here would ever *think* of not having a/c.

according to Zen she came out of the womb with her eyes open. I don't know if this is common or rare (paging shell?) but it freaked Zen.

Not that rare, as long as the mom's not zorked on drugs and the baby's doing well. I've had babies trying to cry before their shoulders come out, and they quite often suck on my fingers when I'm trying to suction out their mouths (again, before the shoulders and the rest of the baby have emerged). Just a sign little Miss Caitlin was doing well, I'm guessing.
