Miscellaneous good things that bring cheer to my personal universe:

--[livejournal.com profile] eliade has finished the new noir, and will post it soon. Rejoicing!

--[livejournal.com profile] hetrez posted a really wonderful new Hard Core Logo story. I haven't read any HCL in a while, but my golly. This is excellent.

--Taz has an LJ, at [livejournal.com profile] tazlet! I'm tempted to say something like "Now her wit, erudition, general braininess and glorious snark shall be available to a wider multitude, and yay!" except that that would probably make her nervous, so instead I shall just grin like a dog.

--I opened up the 260K (glurk) of outline, notes, and scene-fragments for the next story in line, the one that's been circling the runway for a couple of years, and found myself pleased with them, and excited at the prospect of diving in. This one will be fun, I think.

--I was actually able to get a next-day appointment for the dentist to take a look at my disintegrating crown, so with luck I will soon be rid of the recurring toothache. Plus this time I actually have dental insurance to cover the cost of the whole thing, and will not (as in the past) have to choose between freedom from pain and paying the rent.

--Although it is still rather brutally cold here (predicted windchills tonight in the thirty-below range), just as it seems to be over most of the north American continent, we are forecast to get back up into the thirties, or maybe even forties, by early next week. Thus, I have reason to slog forward.

I am sedulously ignoring various other not-good things, like war and rumors of war, massive budget deficits and their likely effect on my state, continuing lack of news about job prospects, and so on. Going for that accentuate-the-positive, eliminate-the-negative thing, at least until I've gotten myself through January.

Yes, here's to getting through January! *g*

Thanks for posting the HCL rec. I haven't read any HCL stories in ages and ages, and the last couple I read sucked a lot. I'm so excited to read something good! *g*

I pretend January doesn't exist and it seems to make my life a whole lot easier.

Also, I really love the word 'sedulously'. Thank you for introducing it into my meager vocabulary.

The one I was babbling about a year or two ago at Connexions? Yup. Heh. It'll take some time to whip together, but I think I've learned some things about how to write a long story in less than three years. Or I hope I have.

It's so great when that happens. Like making your own ice cream.
