In the middle of watching the updates on Rita, with fear and trepidation, I noticed it had gotten awfully dark out, and then all of a sudden the sirens went off, and yowza, tornadoes bearing down on the Twin Cities, along with the 75 mph straight-line winds and the big-ass hail.

Insert here obligatory philosophical reflection on how there is really no safe place anywhere. Me, I'm shutting down and going to watch the sky.

Hi, Kat- I see you've just friended me, probably as a result of my ranting on customers_suck and I just popped over to say hello and return the friending favor. Do be careful out amongst the weather. We got zapped by tornadoes a few weeks ago, thanks to Katrina, and it was not exactly a highlight of my life. Hope everything turns out alright.

Hi there! You're right, your entry on c_s (one of the best and most hilarious workplace rants I've ever had the pleasure of reading) was what drew me to your LJ, but your marvelous Dragon*con entries were what moved me to friend you. (I would *love* to print out your Simple Rules for Running a Panel and staple them to the foreheads of various mods at several slash cons I've attended...) Anyway, I tend to leap joyously upon smart funny people from quadrants of fandom unfamiliar to me, and snuggle them to my reading list, which I hope is OK with you (it would've been polite to, like, drop you a comment first, but I'm mentally disorganzed and full of cold germs just now).

The storms turned out not too bad, though some co-workers lost trees. Tornadoes in late September are pretty bizarre, but bizarre, flamboyant, melodramatic, and (usually) non-lethal weather is one compensation of living out here on God's own windswept tundra.
