So, the very best part of winter isn't the shoveling tons of snow ... or the going out in -30 windchill ... or the fact that it NEVER ENDS ...

No, the bestest part of all is falling on the GODDAMNED ice and breaking one's GODDAMNED wrist.

(Right wrist, of COURSE, being as how I'm right-handed.)

May I just say FUCK. Also, dear GOD the ER is a tedious place to spend three hours.

Upside? Scrip for Vicodin, dudes! You suppose I could trade half of it to Greg House in exchange for some dirty, dirty, carnal roistering? (*g*)

Ow. Pilling up and heading to bed now, and apologies in advace if I don't get replies to any comments out (and don't feel obligedto comment!) -- typing is a bit cumbersome.

DAMN YOU WINTER.

(Oh and C.--do NOT feel bad, this could've happened anywhere. *hugs*)

ETA: Ah hahahahahahaha!! I forgot to specify non-childproof cap on the g.d. Vicodin! Just TRY opening a childproof cap w/a broken wrist!

Well suckity suck suck, say I.
Though the pill bottle with the child proof top is darkly amusing.
Well, to me...

(Feel better, take the vicodin, curse the winter.)

Thanks for kind words! Can't wait to see you at MR!

Ouch! Much sympathy. You can usually get a child-proof cap open one-handed by holding the bottle between your bare feet and using your good hand to push down and unscrew it. Not elegant but workable. You'll be tempted to use the wrist too soon and too much because it's bloody inconvenient having the use of only one hand. Try and resist or it can really set you back. Good luck!

Aiiieeee!!! I'm so sorry. (And believe me, you have my utmost empathy -- a few years ago I did the same thing, left wrist, and right before I had a big job interview.)

The ER is truly a tedious place, especially when you're not totally drugged up. I can't believe they didn't give you nonchildproof caps!! It's totally the torque that kills you on the broken wrists -- you can often hold things and such, but you can't twist or pull on anything. Dumbasses! They shouldn't make the goodies so hard to get to.

I hope you recover quickly and no more slippage!!

Thanks so much for the kind words! The ER was just -- oh god. They had *nothing* to read, and a TV blatting away with Suze Orman exhorting the masses about MONEY, interspersed with the public radio membership drive, and it was like time STOPPED.

I did finally manage to get the pills open, so yesterday was a happy druggy haze, and today I had a nice sleek little black cast put on. (*sigh*)

Thanks again! And I'm so sorry I didn't get to see you at Escapade -- but we'll look toward Vividcon!

Nah, I figure we ALL are entitled to whining about winter. I'm just amazed I made it this far through life w/o previous ice-related fracturage. (Which I don't believe is really a word...)

I'm now sporting a sleek little black cast, and am very pleased to discover I can kind of, sort of, type. (Though I may keep that info from my boss...)

Sorry I didn't get back to you before -- I was sort of looped on Vicodin yesterday. But as I said to Jackie, do not fret for even a moment; the ice was all over the place Tuesday, and I just needed to be more attentive to where I was stepping. I didn't really plan to go to the ER until I was about halfway home and it started throbbing and hurting, and I really didn't expect to be sitting there that long (it wasn't *crowded* or anythimg, it's just like time went into some alternate-dimension non-moving loop. Plus, TV blatting Suze Orman and the public TV membership drive oh god kill me NOW.)

I now have a sleek little black cast and can type much more easily than with the splint, which is a relief.

And ack, I don't know if I'll see you again before you head off to England -- if not, have a fabulous time! Take pictures and notes to bring back!
